Multiple speed restrictions have been imposed across the c2c network. As trains are having to run at a reduced speed, c2c have introduced an amended timetable. This has been done to offer more certainty about services, and to reduce the risk of any short-notice disruption.

This is expected to continue until further notice.

Travel advice:

The amended timetable involves some services being cancelled and some services being retimed. This timetable is reflected in Journey Planners up to and including Friday 2 October.

Services towards London from Shoeburyness and Upminster, and from Pitsea and Grays will depart at least six minutes earlier than normal. Services from London and arriving at stations between Upminster and Shoeburyness and Grays and Pitsea will arrive at least six minutes later than normal.

Additional information:

The prolonged dry weather has caused the clay underneath the tracks to dry out and shrink. This has caused the track to drop in places and become uneven. In response, speed restrictions have been put in place to keep everyone moving safely and smoothly.

Speed restrictions will need to be in place until the ground conditions have recovered, which can take some time. The normal timetables will be reintroduced as soon as possible. Further updates will be provided in due course.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey up to and including Friday 2 October using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner. It is not yet known what service will look for c2c on Saturday 3 October and beyond, so please check back later.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
