East Midlands Railway have introduced a temporary reduced Intercity timetable to help provide a more consistent and reliable service whilst they address issues with the performance and reliability of their trains.
This is expected to be in place until further notice.
The RMT Union has notified East Midlands Railway that members will be taking action short of strike (ASOS) until further notice. Trains may be subject to short notice alterations and cancellations. Please check before you travel.
The RMT union has also announced industrial action which is expected to impact the level of service on East Midlands Railway's Intercity and Connect routes on Wednesday 16 September and Thursday 17 September.
Online Journey Planners and ticket booking systems have been updated to reflect the timetable changes as follows:
Monday to Friday: Cancelled services have been removed from journey planners up until 16 October.
Weekends: Cancelled services will be removed from journey planners up to three weeks before travel.
East Midlands Railway will increase Intercity service from 87% to 92% of the full planned timetable. Please continue to check before you travel for any additional disruption on the East Midlands Railway network.

Key service reinstatements include:
Sheffield services:
Reinstatement of five weekday services and three weekend services that were previously fully cancelled.
Nottingham services:
Reinstatement of three weekday services and one weekend service that were previously fully cancelled.
If your booked service is affected, you can travel on up to two earlier or two later East Midlands Railway services, or, if you decide not to travel, you can claim a full refund from where you purchased the ticket.
In addition, if you are travelling between Sheffield and London St Pancras International with any flexible ticket (such as an anytime, off-peak or super off-peak ticket) you can travel via Doncaster with your existing ticket, at no extra cost, using Northern / TransPennine Express services between Sheffield and Doncaster, and then LNER services between Doncaster and London Kings Cross. This applies even if your booked train is unaffected.
If you have an advance ticket booked for an East Midlands Railway train which is still running, your ticket will not be valid on other operators.
The introduction of the new Class 810 fleet to the East Midlands Railway network was designed to provide a smooth transition from the Class 222 fleet, with a significant period where both fleets would operate alongside one another under the maintenance of Hitachi Rail.
However, a three-year delay in the first Class 810 trains coming into service, combined with ongoing service reliability issues across both fleets, have significantly impacted East Midlands Railway’s ability to run a reliable Intercity service.
Introducing a temporary timetable will allow them to provide a more dependable service whilst they continue to work with Hitachi Rail to make the improvements needed as quickly as possible.

If your train is cancelled or you choose not to travel due to strike action, tickets can be changed to another date, or they can be returned for a full refund at your point of purchase. No administration fee will be charged.
