A fire at a building near to Glasgow Central station means the decision has been taken to close the station.

From Wednesday 11 March
Services will resume from Glasgow Central low level tomorrow morning, Wednesday 11 March. Glasgow Central high level station will not reopen this week.

Glasgow Central high level platforms (where Avanti West Coast trains run) remain closed due to the impact of the nearby fire.
From the morning of Wednesday 11 March, Glasgow Central low level platforms are able to reopen and ScotRail services will be running from there. With no trains able to run to / from Glasgow Central high level, Avanti West Coast trains will start and end at Motherwell, which you can reach using ScotRail services from Glasgow Central low level or nearby stations.
The majority of trains between Scotland and London are able to run normally to / from Motherwell and Edinburgh. Other routes, such as to Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, and North Wales are unaffected by this disruption. More information will be provided as soon as we know the impact for the rest of the week.
What are my ticket options?
No longer wish to travel? Due to the disruption, your unused ticket is eligible for a full refund (no admin fee). Claim your refund from where you bought your ticket.
Travelling from Glasgow to London:
The Glasgow - London service will start from Edinburgh. Boarding in Edinburgh will begin at 22:30, and you will travel in your booked accommodation as planned. The train will depart Edinburgh at 23:40.

Travelling from London to Glasgow:
The London - Glasgow service will terminate at Edinburgh. Boarding and departure times are unaffected, and you may remain onboard in Edinburgh until 08:00.

We don't know currently how services will be impacted for Caledonian Sleepers services on Wednesday 11 March, please check back closer to the time of travel.

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost. Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them.

For services that run through the low level, you should use Argyle Street. Argyle Street is a short distance (approximately 5 minutes) from Glasgow Central.
Additionally, you can change at Partick and travel to Glasgow Queen Street low level from there. Glasgow Queen Street is a short distance from Glasgow Central.

For Neilston you may also use your ticket at no extra cost on Stagecoach Buses route 4 and McGills Buses route 3.
Please note that due to road closures, buses may be diverted. Please check your journey before travel.
Customers should check for information on services operating in and around the city before travelling and ensure they can complete their entire journey during this disruption.
If you have had to drive to another station your ticket will be valid to collect your car on your return journey. Speak to a member of staff to validate your ticket.
How does this affect my journey?
TransPennine Express services WILL NOT operate on the following routes in both directions on Tuesday 10 March and Wednesday 11 March. We will provide an update as soon as we have further information regarding services for the rest of the week.
Most Glasgow Central to Manchester Airport and Liverpool Lime Street services will either terminate or start at Carlisle. Please check your journey before you travel.
Train crew in Glasgow may be displaced due to the incident, TransPennine Express are also advising you to check before you travel on the following routes until further notice, as short notice delays and cancellations are expected:

What should I do?
TransPennine Express WILL NOT be operating between Carlisle and Glasgow Central in both directions whilst Glasgow Central high level station is closed.
Connections to Motherwell are available with ScotRail. You can use your existing ticket at no extra cost from Argyle Street station (a short distance from Glasgow Central) to catch a direct train to Motherwell. From there, Avanti West Coast are running to and from London. Customers can change at Preston for TransPennine Express or Northern services towards Manchester.

If you have purchased a ticket and your journey has been affected by this disruption, you can use your ticket dated from Monday 9 to Wednesday 11 March to travel instead on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 March at no extra cost. Alternatively, if the train you intended to travel on is cancelled or you are unable to complete your journey then you can apply for a refund from your point of purchase.
